Preliminary 1 - Journey Description - 18 Sept to 16 November 2012
Welcome to our new blogsite and the story of the fulfillment of a lifelong dream of ours. We have always wanted to cycle some of the romantic rivers of Europe. Please join us on our "Romantic Rivers Ride 2012", which will take us from Frankfurt along the upper Rhine, over and through the Black Forest to follow the beautiful Neckar River north, a brief interlude across country through Bavaria to link up with the majestic Danube of southern Germany and into Vienna, Austria (but not before we pay a visit to Cesky Krumlov in southern Czech Republic), and then through to Bratislava, Slovakia, where we meet the Vah, heading north again through Slovakian countryside before turning west into the Czech Republic all the way to Prague, and then tracking the Labe/Elbe River back into Germany again via Dresden, a short interlude to see Colditz, across country again to Berlin, and then a short train journey back to Wurzburg with the final few days winding along the River Main before our reluctant finish back at Frankfurt, where the Qantas Jumbo will be waiting to bring us home after some 9 weeks and almost 3500k of mostly romantic river exploration.
